We have an unstable solution at the moment where we bake out the animation transforms for the cut scenes in takes. Besides, working like this is very very time consuming and generally not very reliable. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to approach this issue differently?

Perhaps we are missing a very convenient tick box somewhere??? Very grateful for any suggestions that could help us understand what the issue could be, or perhaps even an alternative method altogether….

Aug 17, Hello, I will try to be as coherent as possible and explain my thoughts the best I can. The most standing out example I can come up with was ship boarding. When I asked about it on forums back in the days, I was basically told to save before boarding attempt, if it fails load, save after soldiers get on board of the boarded ship, load if boarding fails etc.

Simply preparations for boarding took days soldier training and the game mechanics behind it were very complicated and I would say very clunky.

I want to play a true immersive sandbox game. I do not want overly complicated clunky mechanics in gameplay to which best answer would be save and load after each step. I want to live with my failures while not feeling punished for it. That´s a good concept for FPS. Will there be escape pods?

Seems like due to teleportation we will simply be able to teleport out of dangers way if things get hairy if we manage to do that before the ship gets too damaged or destroyed. That´s not necessarily a bad thing Just interested about how this part of the game will look like gameplay and lore wise.

A big part of the problem is that better ships need to be a reasonable effort to acquire vs mission rewards, but that same concept means that it will always be a massive setback to lose your ship or wingmans ships trying to accomplish things, even if you have an 'emergency teleporter' or similar technology.

Some games use various forms of Insurance schemes, so losing a ship once you manage to purchase it is significantly less financially painful.

But that won't work well in X4 as they are experimenting with all ships needing to be built. Aug 17, I would say it´s just a matter of dedication since I play all open world or sandbox games on permadeath setting. I don´t mind "wasting" few hundred hours on a game where my character will ultimately fail and I will have to start over.

But sandbox single player game where I fix everything by loading, I can gurantee it will bore me within hours of playtime. Anyway it could be just a separate game settings. Plus I´m asking for reasonable gameplay mechanics not losing complexity, not making the game easy but not making another X3 boarding like mechanic.
